Member Bio
​
Matt De Vries (Trumpet)
is an active performer and educator in the Austin area. A native of Cedar Park, TX, Mr. De Vries earned his bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of Texas at Arlington. While there he performed with the UTA bands, Maverick Marching Band, and the UTA Symphony Orchestra as well as various local groups in the DFW area. In 2012 he marched with the world finalist Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps, which also gave him the opportunity to perform with the Canton Symphony Orchestra of Canton, OH. Mr. De Vries has studied trumpet privately with Dr. Rick Bogard, Ken Edwards, Dr. Miranda George, Dr. Robert Cannon, and Gilbert Elorreaga.
His students are regularly lauded for their quality of performance and musicianship. He consistently has students advancing in the All-State audition process and solo contests, as well as earning spots in honor bands/ensembles, drum corps, and university programs and ensembles.
In his free time you can often find him outside on a disc golf course doing his best to not hit trees. He also enjoys cooking, exploring nature, watching the Houston Astros, and spending time with his wife, family, and friends.
Mr. De Vries' professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He performs regularly with the Cedar Park Winds. In the summer and fall he is an instructor with the Robert E. Hendrickson High School marching band.​

Jairo Caberea (Trumpet)
is one of the Associate Directors at Kelly Lane Middle school. A native Texan, Mr. Cabrera grew up in Plano Texas. Mr. Cabrera graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelors in Music Studies.
During his time at UT, Mr Cabrera had the honor of playing with the UT Wind Ensemble, Longhorn Band and multiple other ensembles. Mr. Cabrera studied trumpet with professor Billy Hunter and studied music under Dr. Bob Duke and Dr. Amy Simmons.
This is Mr. Cabrera’s first year teaching and he could not be happier starting his teaching life at Kelly Lane Middle School!
During his free time Mr. Cabrera enjoys playing his trumpet, spending time with family, and driving around Texas in his mustang!

Nicoletta Pignaello (Horn)
​ is a freelance horn player and teacher in the Austin Area. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Lawrence University and her Master’s Degree from Ithaca College. She teaches in Hutto, Pflugerville, Austin, and Round Rock.

Matthew Flores (Trombone)
​ A native Austinite, Matthew Flores is excited to share his love of music and passion for the trombone at Weiss High School. As a trombonist Matthew has worked as a clinician, performer, recording artist, and audio engineer. Matthew’s education includes an undergraduate degree from Texas State and a Master's degree from Ithaca College. Goals for his students are to develop a love and excitement for music, create strong practice habits, and build confidence in themselves as well as the trombone. Matthew’s trombone studio includes students from Cele, Bohls, and Akins. To relax, Matthew likes to go for a ride on his sweet e-bike or throw a frisbee.

Dr. Guytano Martorano III (Tuba)
is currently an visiting lecture of tuba/euphonium at Texas A&M - Kingsville, as well as a freelance performer/educator in Northern Austin. Other professional expertise include Arranging/Composition, Music Theory, Chamber Music, and Recording Technology. As an educator, Dr. Martorano frequently participates in clinics and ensemble masterclasses, as well as producing educational media for TMEA competitions.
Dr. Martorano’s performing interests span from ludomusicology (study of video game music) to Bach to John Sass; any music that makes you feel.
Some past appointments include principal tubist of the Lubbock Civic Orchestra, principal tubist for LSO Educational Brass Quintet, and the acting substitute tubist for both the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra and the DFW Brass Quintet.
In his spare time, he is an avid music scholar with current research interests in music perception/cognition, early instrumental pedagogy, and sight-reading.
